Four Simple Principles

The goal is not to give drivers more equipment, but to leave them with less to manage. WayGuer begins with offline mountain roads, dense fog, blind bends and rural deployment conditions, and follows four clear, testable principles.

No Internet Required

No mobile signal or cloud connection is required. Even when a remote mountain road is fully offline, local roadside nodes can still work together.

No Screen

Drivers should not look down at a complex interface. Warnings must be direct and highly visible, keeping attention on the road and approaching traffic.

No Driver Operation

A passing vehicle can trigger the warning without setup, login or manual intervention, so older people, visitors and drivers unfamiliar with the road can understand it.

At Both Ends of the Mountain Road, Quiet Concern

Every week, my father drives his second-hand Great Wall pickup between the county town, the old family home and our Gannan navel-orange orchard. The mountain roads are only about three metres wide, with loose gravel, steep slopes, cliffside bends and heavy fog at dawn and dusk. More than ten years ago, he survived after the pickup overturned into a stream on a different winding mountain road on his way home. The accident did not happen on the road before us, but it left our whole family with a lasting fear of every blind mountain bend where approaching traffic disappears from sight. On foggy nights, my grandparents still listen anxiously by the window until the familiar engine finally breaks the silence.

We cannot always be beside our parents, but we hope technology can watch over every bend on their journey home.

The rollover happened on another winding mountain road, but it left our family afraid of every blind bend that hides oncoming traffic. We are building WayGuer so technology can stand watch where children cannot always be beside their parents.

A Watchman on the Journey Home

WayGuer is, at its core, a low-cost offline networked bend-warning system. Roadside nodes work together to detect vehicles, relay warnings locally, and activate clear audio-visual beacons before dangerous bends so traffic on the other side receives advance notice. It does not depend on the internet and requires no action from the driver.

Current Project Status

WayGuer publishes what is established, what is being tested and what cannot yet be claimed. In road safety, honest boundaries are themselves a responsibility.

Established

The system direction is a low-cost, offline networked bend-warning system guided by four principles: no internet required, no screen, no driver operation and fast deployment, while remaining public-benefit and open source.

Under Validation

A roughly RMB 100 cost target per bend, industrial-grade environmental protection, long-term outdoor reliability, false-positive and missed-detection rates, and logic for consecutive vehicles.

Not Yet Claimed

The RMB 100 target, protection rating, service life, certification and any effect on accident risk all require validation. We do not present them as achieved.
